Tourist / Private Visit

Holders of valid Schengen visas may travel to Bulgaria without Bulgarian national visa on the terms and conditions stated on the Schengen visa, provided that the designated stay on the Schengen visa is not exhausted. i.e. holder of valid Multiple Schengen visa can travel to Bulgaria as many times as needed, provided that the visa is not fully exhausted. All Applicants traveling for the first time to Bulgaria have to come personally for an interview.

  • The Applicant should have a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of exit from Bulgaria (photocopy of the first, second, last and all used pages).
  • One visa form (photocopy allowed).
  • Two recent passport-size photographs.
  • A Covering letter from the Applicant.
  • Original document /voucher issued by the Tourist Organization / Tour Operator for prepaid tourist services.
  • The voucher should explicitly contain the license number of the tourist Organization / Tour Operator issued by the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy, the name and license number of the Hotel, and the duration of the prepaid tourist services.
  • Confirmed onward/return air ticket (photocopy required).
  • Income Tax Returns for last three years.
  • An Insurance Policy issued by an Insurance Company licensed to carry out insurance business in the European Union with a minimum coverage of EUR 30 000, including all expenses for repatriation as well as for emergency medical care and for emergency hospital treatment for the whole period of stay in Bulgaria as requested with the visa application. The applicants for Multiple Entry Short-Stay Visa should present an Insurance Policy covering only the period of the first planned entry (the Insurance Policy should be presented in original and a copy of it should be attached to the visa application).
  • Updated Bank Statement for six months.
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay in Bulgaria with a minimum of Euro 50 per day.
  • When the visa approval is received, the passport is to be submitted for visa stamping.
  • Processing time is 10 working days (Normal) and 3 working days (Urgent).
  • All applications are referred to Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and approval takes approximately 20 to 30 days.
  • Visa is issued for a maximum stay of 90 days and is valid for six months with single entry.

Business

Holders of valid Schengen visas may travel to Bulgaria without Bulgarian national visa on the terms and conditions stated on the Schengen visa, provided that the designated stay on the Schengen visa is not exhausted. i.e. holder of valid Multiple Schengen visa can travel to Bulgaria as many times as needed, provided that the visa is not fully exhausted. All Applicants traveling for the first time to Bulgaria have to come personally for an interview.

  • The Applicant should have a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of exit from Bulgaria (photocopy of the first, second, last and all used pages).
  • One visa form (photocopy allowed).
  • Two recent passport-size photographs.
  • Covering letter from the Company in India with relevant Business details.
  • Confirmed onward/return air ticket (photocopy required).
  • Hotel Booking.
  • An original invitation/ declaration issued by the Bulgarian Business Partner in a standard form, attested by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
  • Income Tax Returns for the last three years.
  • An Insurance Policy issued by an Insurance Company licensed to carry out insurance business in the European Union with a minimum coverage of EUR 30 000, including all expenses for repatriation as well as for emergency medical care and for emergency hospital treatment for the whole period of stay in Bulgaria as requested with the visa application. The applicants for Multiple Entry Short-Stay Visa should present an Insurance Policy covering only the period of the first planned entry (the Insurance Policy should be presented in original and a copy of it should be attached to the visa application)

  • Visa is valid for transit within 3 months from the date of issue, in the case of single transit visa, and within 3 or 6 months in the case of double transit visa, with a maximum stay of 24 hours per transit.
  • Processing time is 10 working days.
  • Visa is referred to Bulgaria and can take 7 to 10 days for approval.

Seamen

  • Visa is required.
  • Indian seamen traveling on duty must hold letter of Guarantee from the shipping company with Seamen Book and passport.
  • A fax message from the Shipping Agent in Bulgaria stating particulars of the Seamen, date and port of joining the ship.

Student

Additional requirements are:

  • A Certificate, issued by the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria, confirming the Applicant's admission (in original).
  • Evidence of duly paid tuition fee (in original).
  • Confirmation of guaranteed accommodation in Bulgaria.
  • Proof of sufficient financial means for sustenance during the proposed stay in Bulgaria.
  • Processing time is 10 working days.
  • All applications are referred to the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and approval takes about 7 days.

Work Permit

Visa is not issued.
