Visa Note and Fees
Tourist
All Applicants need to come personally to submit the visa application. Alternatively, an authorized person can submit and collect the documents on behalf of the Applicant. He should have the power of attorney on INR 10/- stamp paper. There is no special format for the authorization letter.
- The Applicant should have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of application with minimum 2 pages in blank (photocopy of all the used pages and the main page of the passport in which the personal data of the applicant is registered). Copy of the last Colombian Visa, if applicable.
- One visa form duly filled and signed by the applicant.
- Three recent passport-size colored photographs ( 3 X 3 cms) with white background.
- A Covering letter stating the reason and places of travel in Colombia, and names and addresses of contact persons in Colombia (if any).
- The above covering letter must be translated into Spanish and originals as well as the translations must be attested by a Notary Public, from the list of approved agents by the Embassy.
- Leave letter from the Employee.
- If applicable, an original letter of invitation in which the inviter takes the responsibility of the applicant during his stay in Colombia and the documents proving financial solvency of the person who is inviting are also required. The letter should be in Spanish language.
- Onward country visa.
- Hotel confirmation.
- Onward/ return confirmed air ticket.
- Proof of financial status like bank statements for the last six months and Income Tax Returns for the last three years.
- All the documents must be submitted in original along with a set of copies.
- All first time travelers must obtain a PCC from the Passport Office.
- All cases are referred to Bogotá and processing can take up to 7 days. Once the approval is received the visa can be processed on the same day.
- Visa Processing fee of INR 2850 (Non Refundable) needs to be submitted at any Standard Charterd Bank before submitting the documents at the Embassy. Once the case is approved than Embassy will advise the Visa fee amount which again needs to be submitted in Standard Charterd Bank.
Business

- A original letter of invitation from the inviting Company in Colombia. The letter should be in Spanish language.
- A Letter from the legal representative of the foreign company which promotes the Applicant’s visit to Colombia, showing the post which the applicant for the Business Visa occupies in the organisation (which must be at the level of Director, Manager, Executive or legal representative) and the activities of business management which he will be undertaking in Colombia and a statement that the foreign company is responsible for the applicant, during his permanence in Colombia or attaching an incumbency certificate or similar document, depending on the country of
- An Original, Certificate of Registration of the company in Colombia plus Chamber of Commerce letter from Colombia.
- Certificate of Existence of the Company, by a competent authority in India (i.e. Chamber of Commerce or Export Promotion Council).
- All the documents must be submitted in original along with a set of copies.
- Travel itinerary.
- All cases are referred to Bogotá and processing can take up to 7 days. Once the approval is received the visa can be processed on the same day.

Transit

- A Covering letter stating the reason of transit in Colombia, and names and addresses of contact persons in Colombia (if any).
- The above covering letter must be translated into Spanish and originals as well as the translations must be attested by a Notary Public, from the list of approved agents by the Embassy.
- Onward country visa.

- A Covering letter from the Shipping Company requesting for the visa. It must mention the names and addresses of the contact persons in Colombia, if any.
- A letter from the Legal Representative of the Company stating its activities and the Applicant's position in the firm.
- Indian seamen traveling on duty must hold a Letter of Guarantee from the Shipping Company with the Seamen Book.
- A letter from the Shipping Agent stating particulars of the Seamen, date and port of joining the ship. A fax/ telex from the Shipping Agent in Colombia to this effect is required.
- Certificate of Existence of the Company, by a competent authority (i.e. Chamber of Commerce or Export Promotion Council).
- The above documents must be translated into Spanish and originals as well as the translations must be attested by a Notary Public, from the list of approved agents by the Embassy.

Work Permit

Copy of the last Colombian Visa, if applicable.
- One visa form duly filled and signed by the applicant.
- Three recent passport-size colored photographs ( 3 X 3 cms) with white background.
- An original letter of invitation from Colombian company in Spanish language.
- A letter from the Legal Representative of the concerned Company stating its activities, the Applicant's position in the firm, the reason for sending him to Colombia, and an undertaking to bear the total expenses of the Applicant.
- Certificate of Existence of the Company, by a competent authority (i.e. Chamber of Commerce or Export Promotion Council).
- Contract or administrative act, as the case may be, or the form "Contract Summary”, completed, signed and authenticated by the parties, indicating the object of the contract, duration, agreement of terms of engagement, transfer or move as the case may be, salary, post and functions; and it must specify that the contracting party or employer undertakes to the Colombian government that at the end of the contract, engagement of period of transfer, or in situations which impede performance of the functions or activities object of the contract, or death, or when the visa is to be cancelled, or there is to be deportation or expulsion in the terms of Decree 4000/2004, that it will pay all expenses of the return to the country of origin or to the last place which has been shown to be the residence of the alien contracted, together the expenses of his family, if an
- Certification of the Ministry of Social Protection, stating that the incorporation of the alien respects the proportionality between Colombia and foreign Workers, in accordance with the terms of the Colombian Labour Code, except in the case of an artistic, cultural or sporting group. Likewise, if the contracting party is an international governmental organisation, diplomatic mission or consular office accredited in Colombia, or an agency of the Colombian state, and the engagement of the alien is not regulated by the Colombian Labour Code, this requirement will be waive
- If a regulated profession is to be practised, accreditation of suitability, with the related permit, or provisional licence or permit to practise the profession in question in Colombia, granted by a competent authority, as appropriate. If the professional activity to be undertaken is not regulated, the applicant should supply a professional qualification, duly authenticated by a Colombian Consulate, carrying a legalisation or apostille, with and/or with an acceptance of equivalence of a professional qualification from the Ministry of Education, as the case may be. For other posts, there must be a letter from the contracting entity or employer responsible, certifying suitability on the basis of experience in the trade or activity to be undertaken in Colombia
- Certificate of incumbency or valid document accrediting corporate existence, if appropriate, where the contracting party or employer is a corporate person, issued within at most three months prior to the application for the visa. If considered necessary, the accounts of the company will also be requested, in order to demonstrate economic solvency; or a photocopy of the tax return. If the contracting party is an individual, his economic solvency must be shown, with income of more than 10 minimum monthly salaries, and if necessary, a photocopy of the related income-tax return for the latest tax year may be requested. The terms of this subsection will not be applied to entities or institutions of the Colombian state, international governmental organisations, diplomatic missions, or consular offices accredited in Colombia

- Confirmed air ticket.
- Proof of financial status like bank statements for the last six months and Income Tax Returns for the last three years.
- All documents must be submitted in original along with a set of copies.
- Visa form must be signed by the Applicant and submitted in person. Authorized letter must be given by the holder of the passport for collection.
- All cases are referred to Bogotá and processing can take between 10 and 15 days. Once the approval is received the visa can be processed on the same day.
- Visa Fee is to be confirmed with the Embassy at the time of lodging the application.
- Visa Processing fee of INR 2850 (Non Refundable) needs to be submitted at any Standard Charterd Bank before submitting the documents at the Embassy. Once the case is approved than Embassy will advise the Visa fee amount which again needs to be submitted in Standard Charterd Bank.
In order to practice the profession or the activity for which the Applicant has been issued the visa, he/she must comply with the same requirements and existing regulations as for Colombian nationals, and should submit similar documents to that effect. For non-regulated jobs, the Applicant must certify his/her experience or suitability by presenting evidence of work experience.
The engineers, the period of stay in Colombia is established by the respective "Consejo Profesional de Ingenieria" (COPNIA) and regulation No. 2107.
Student

- The Applicant should have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of application with minimum 2 pages in blank (photocopy of all the used pages and the main page of the passport in which the personal data of the applicant is registered). Copy of the last Colombian Visa, if applicable.
- One visa form duly filled and signed by the applicant.
- Three recent passport-size colored photographs ( 3 X 3 cms) with white background.
- The photocopy of the certificate of admission or matriculation issued by the educational establishment; or certified photocopy of the agreement made between the sponsoring entity and the educational establishment, in which the educational establishment undertakes to accept the student under an inter-institutional agreement, if the applicant is an exchange student.
- The photocopy of the resolution of recognition of the legal existence of the educational establishment, and if necessary, an operating license or registration before the competent education authority for the program of study which the student is to attend, in the case of a private institution which only provides a non-formal education, also known as "Education for work and human development". This requirement does not apply to official education centres.
- A letter from the person who will be economically responsible for the applicant, and documents to show economic solvency of the holder or his parents or legal representative or the person who guarantees the expenses of his permanence in Colombia. Letters of credit may be accepted as economic solvency, attaching a bank statement or similar document to show that the limit assigned is sufficient to maintain the student.
- Certification or statement of the international organisation, public or private entity which grants a scholarship, in the cases of scholarship students. The certificate of economic solvency of the holder or of his parents is also required, if the subvention or scholarship is only partial.
- Authorisation of parents, and appointment of the person responsible for the student during his time in Colombia, authenticated by a notary or Colombian consul, in the case of minors. In these cases, the request, power of attorney or authorisation, as the case may be, will be signed only by the parents. If there are no parents, the person having custody or personal care of the minor will sign. If the parents are not in Colombia, it will be signed by whoever is duly authorised by them, or by the appropriate authority.
- Document accrediting a work-study program as part of the study program, as an academic requirement, in the case of Student-Work-Study.
- In the case of studies other than primary, secondary, technical, technological, or higher education, university programs at undergraduate level, graduate level, Masters level, diploma courses or university courses, there should be attached a certification or document from the religion establishment, indicating the that the number of hours per week is not less than 10.
- Confirmed air ticket.
- All documents must be submitted in original along with a set of copies.
- Visa form must be signed by the Applicant and submitted in person. Authorized letter must be given by the holder of the passport for collection.
