Visa Note and Fees
Schengen State: Please read this note for all Schengen Countries.Schengen Territory: Indian Nationals can obtain short stay visa for a period ranging from one to ninety days, valid for all countries of the Schengen Territory i.e. Austria, Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden & Switzerland. The Schengen Convention is a great step towards freedom of circulation of people. Foreigners bearing a valid stay permit delivered by one of the Schengen states can leave and later re-enter the Schengen Territory without having to ask for a visa again, on condition that they have a valid passport and relevant travel document and a multiple entry visa. Application for visas have to be submitted with the competent Consular authorities, which are to be determined according to the following criteria
Tourist

The Embassy will not accept cases which show the travel date before the required processing time.
- The applicant should have a passport valid for at least 90 days beyond the date of expiry of the requested visa (photocopies of the pages with photograph, validity, present address and all valid visas of UK, USA, and other Schengen Countries). Passports valid for more than 10 years will not be accepted as the main required travel document. It is mandatory to have two blank pages opposite to each other.
- Original visa application form, can be downloaded from the site. The first 3 pages of the form must be filled out completely with a ballpoint pen (no red ink) or a typewriter.
- One recent passport-size photograph (35 x 45 mm) against a light background, 60-80% face coverage, glued (not stapled to the upper part of the first page of the application). Photograph should not be more than 3 months old.
- A Covering letter from the Applicant explaining the purpose of the visit.
- Confirmed onward/ return air ticket.
- Documents regarding assurance of the means of stay e.g. Hotel Voucher.
- Travel Insurance of Euros 30,000 for duration of stay in all Schengen states. The insurance should be valid for another 15 days from the date of return to India from Schengen State.
- In case of long stay, a recent Bank Statement or a letter from the host or sponsor in the Czech Republic confirming support during the visit and the capacity to do so. The Czech Immigration Officer at border crossings might request such documents.
- Bank Statements for the last six months (photocopy).
- Educational Certificates and Leave Certificate.
- The duration of the visa issued is dependent on the air ticket and on the discretion of the embassy.
- Processing time could be 7 to 10 working days or more.
- In some cases the decision making process can last up to 30 days. The Embassy cannot guarantee issuance of any visa. Their decision is final and irrevocable.

- The Applicant must submit a valid invitation verified by the Foreigner's Police of the Czech Republic (in original).
- Applicant must also have evidence of financial resources of at least US $500.
- Refundable caution money may also be asked. It depends on case to case.
- Confirmed onward/ return air ticket.
- Documents regarding assurance of the means of stay e.g. Hotel Voucher.
- TTravel Insurance of Euros 30,000 for duration of stay in all Schengen states. The insurance should be valid for another 15 days from the date of return to India from Schengen State.
- In case of long stay, a recent Bank Statement or a letter from the host or sponsor in the Czech Republic confirming support during the visit and the capacity to do so. The Czech Immigration Officer at border crossings might request such documents.

Airport Transit
Note: Travel Agent needs to take an appointment first to submit the visa application directly with the Embassy. Without the appointment the Application cannot be submitted.- Visa is required even if continuing the journey by the same, or first connecting aircraft without leaving the transit area of the airport.
- This requirement does not apply if the Passenger:
- Holds a valid visa of any EU Country, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or the Residence permit/ Long Term Visa of USA, Canada, Japan, Monaco, Switzerland, San Marino or Andorra.
- Intends to travel directly from one of the countries listed under above, and holds a document proving a valid residence visa/permit before their departure.
- Is a holder of a diplomatic, service, official or a special passport.

Transit
Note: Travel Agent needs to take an appointment first to submit the visa application directly with the Embassy. Without the appointment the Application cannot be submitted.- This is required if the traveler intends to leave the airport and leave the Czech Republic within 5 days.
- Other than basic documents required for a tourist visa, a confirmed onward ticket and onward country visa is needed.
- The validity of transit visa is 180 days with a maximum stay of 5 days per entry.

All affidavits and legal documents issued and/or signed in the Czech Republic must be notarized by a Czech Notary.
Documents must not be older than 180 days.
The following documents must be submitted:
- The application form, available upon request at the Czech Embassy or a consulate.
- Two recent passport-size photographs (35 x 45 mm) against a light background, 60-80% face coverage, glued (not stapled to the upper part of the first page of the application). Photograph should not be more than 3 months old.
- Original passport. Its validity must exceed the expected length of stay by at least 455 days. Passports valid for more than 10 years will not be accepted as the main required travel document. It is mandatory to have two blank pages opposite to each other.
- Travel Insurance of Euros 30,000 for duration of stay in all Schengen states. The insurance should be valid for another 15 days from the date of return to India from Schengen State.
- Documents confirming sufficient financial resources for the duration of stay in the Czech Republic, which might include:
- A Bank Statement in the Applicant's name from a Bank in the Czech Republic or in the country of residence showing present balance.
- A letter from the host or sponsor confirming financial support of the Applicant (in the case of a study program only!).
- The minimum acceptable amount of financial resources is approximately 34.800 CZK + 4.640 CZK/per month of stay.
- In case of a business stay exceeding 90 days approximately 116.000 CZK is acceptable.
- For juveniles half of the above stated amounts apply.
- A document explaining the purpose of stay in the Czech Republic, which might be listed under the following categories:
- Student class - An original or notarized copy (by a Czech Notary) of a document certifying acceptance into a study program in the Czech Republic issued by the Czech University or school.
- Employment class - A notarized copy (by a Czech Notary) of a Work Permit issued by the Employment Administration Office ("Povolení k zamestnání") in the Czech Republic. Any kind of work undertaken in the Czech Republic even if it is less than 90 days requires this type of visa. On the other hand since the requirements for this kind of visa are simpler than for a stay exceeding 90 days it is advised to ask for specific instructions.
- Commercial and investment class - A notarized copy (by a Czech Notary) of a Record from the Commercial Register ("Zápis od Obchodního rejstríku") in the Czech Republic.
- Family/accompanying family member - A notarized copy of a Marriage Certificate (in the case of a wife/husband) or Birth Certificate (in case of a child) certified by the Apostle. In case of relatives, any document certifying the relationship.
- Visit/invitation - The original official Invitation letter certified by the Immigration Police of the Czech Republic.
- Other purpose (medical, cultural, sport, trade, business, foundation, tourist, and other) - A document or an affidavit certifying the reason of stay. For example, if Applicant wishes to establish a foundation, a notarized copy of a registration certificate issued by the respective District Office will be required.
- Accommodation: An original statement from the owner of an apartment stating his/her ability and willingness to provide an accommodation for the time of stay. The signature must be notarized by a Czech Notary.
- In the case of a lease of an apartment/house the original or a notarized copy of the lease contract is required.
- In the case of an under lease, the original or a notarized copy of the lease contract and affidavit signed by the owner is needed. The signature must be notarized by a Czech notary.
- In the case of study, an original document issued by the Czech university or school confirming accommodation for the duration of studies is acceptable.
- Application for the Criminal History Record issued by the Police in the Czech Republic. The form is available upon request at the Czech Embassy or a Consulate and must be completed in all respects with the signature be notarized by a Notary Public. A processing fee of approximately 200 CZK is charged. This fee paid in cash or a money order should be payable to the Embassy of Czech Republic. No personal cheques will be accepted. Consular fees might change without prior notice.
After the Embassy receives an approval from the Czech Immigration Police the Applicant will be asked to mail the passport. Starting January 1, 2008 the Applicant is obliged to pick up the passport no later than 5 months after submitting the visa application form.
It is important for the Applicant to enclose his/her phone number.
